Presilphiperfolanols (also known as prebotrydials) are members of a family of natural products that are important biosynthetic precursors to diverse sesquiterpenoids (Figure 1).To date, four members of the group have been isolated: presilphiperfolan-1-ol (1),9-epipresilphiper-folan-1-ol (2), presilphiperfolan-8-ol (3),and presilphiper-folan-9-ol (4), with 1 and 2 being the most recently disclosed (Figure 1 A).
