摘要

Circulenes were defined by Wynberg as systems comprising aromatic or similar rings fused to each side of a polygon. For example, [8]circulene has eight benzene units annelated around a central eight-membered ring (Scheme 1 a). Circulenes have been studied because of their unique 3D struc- tures, their dynamics, and their role as models of larger carbon-rich molecules with curved surfaces, which are important for materials chemistry.
