摘要

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) spectroscopy is a versatile method for probing the binding of biomolecules through the changes in refractive index occurring on thin metal films. One of the main drawbacks that impede further development of SPR applications is the lack of sufficient sensitivity to reliably detect small changes in refractive index caused by compounds with low molecular weight or in low concentration at the sensing surface.'21 Several approaches have been reported to address such limitations. Specifically, Au nano-particles, the localized SPR of which can be coupled with that of a thin metal surface, were extensively explored to enhance SPR response in biosensors.
