The reversible process of color change with temperature known as thermochromism has been observed in a variety of organic compounds, including spiropyrans, salicylidene anilines/11 and some transition-metal complexes, and considerable attention has recently been paid to thermochromic compounds in relation to their potential applications for thermal sensors as well as display, memory, and switching devices.
