Recently, palladium-catalyzed reactions that appear to involve Pd~(II)/Pd~(IV) catalytic cycles have proven to be interesting and attractive to synthetic chemists. These transformations offer access to novel organic products, complementing those obtained by conventional Pd~0/Pd~(II)-catalyzed processes. The Pd-catalyzed oxidative difunctionalization of alkenes is captivating because it is utilized to access diamination, aminooxygenation, dioxygenation, aminofluorination, and cyclopropanation products.
