摘要

Protein aggregation into cytotoxic aggregates and amyloid fibrils is associated with cell degeneration and the pathogenesis of numerous incurable diseases, including Alzheimer's disease (AD) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). The 40- and 42-residue β-amyloid peptides Aβ40 and Aβ42 and the 37-residue islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) are key amyloid polypeptides in AD and in T2D, respectively.
