Need for value addition and challenges in free trade and human resource development highlighted at GPCA Forum

The captains of the Middle East petrochemicals industry have pushed for an enhanced role for the region in the global chemical and petrochemicals sector and according to them this can be only achieved by enhancing focus on value addition in downstream sectors, ramping up research spendings and drawing up a long term plan for developing and nurturing human talent in the region. This was the underlying message of the deliberations at this year's Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) forum in Dubai. The focus, therefore, has shifted from response to the global financial crisis as seen at the last year's forum to driving innovation to ensure sustainable growth.
