Over the last century, the Elliott name has been recognized for many firsts in power generation, power recovery, and compression technology. William Swan Elliott, the founder of the original Elliott Co., was an innovative engineer and a visionary businessman. The water tube boiler, introduced in 1856, was a major breakthrough in terms of boiler efficiency, pressure and safety. But the boiler tubes often became fouled by minerals in the feed water. In 1895, Elliott patented a revolutionary boiler tube cleaner and formed a company to sell his invention. In 1910, Elliott Co. was incorporated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1914, Elliott moved to its present location in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, southeast of Pittsburgh. Elliott quickly grew through acquisitions related to steam technology - heaters, lubricating systems, extractors and separators.
