As process requirements become more critical and environmental constraints more stringent, operators have increasingly turned to non-lubricated cylinders in their reciprocating gas compressors. Cylinders that are not lubricated avoid a number of costly problems, such as oil consumption and disposal, possible process gas contamination, the tendency for valve plates to stick, and the need for ongoing maintenance of the lubrication system.
