About the only economic indicators - out of the multitude - that show some life are manufacturing and the stock market. Manufacturing is shored up by Caterpillar, whose success is highly dependent on exports. The stock market is volatile and can't be depended upon for stability, although it has sustained positive activity for three weeks at this writing. What is needed to bring a positive spin to our economy? The first step is to curb our national debt by putting the brakes on runaway spending. This, the majority of citizens understands.
