SIEMENS LAUNCHES PRE ENGINEERED INTEGRALLY GEARED COMPRESSOR LINE: New Units Are Specifically Designed as Main Air Compressors for Air Separation Plants

The Siemens Oil & Gas Division, based in Duisburg, Germany, has pioneered the development of integrally geared centrifugal compressors and is one of the major manufacturers of this type of machine worldwide. The integrally geared compressors were invented and patented in 1948. (The company was then named Demag.) After the expiration of the 25-year patent rights, other companies have started manufacturing integrally geared compressors, competing on the international marketplace. However, Siemens is still the only manufacturer to produce in the same location both the gear unit and the compressor components assembled onto the gear casing.
