The Adriatic LNG Terminal is Designed to Store and Regasify LNG to Deliver About 10% of Italy's Natural Gas Requirements. Exxon Mobil Corp. reported that the world's first offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal arrived at its final location off the Italian coast. The Adriatic LNG terminal is designed to store and regasify LNG to deliver 775 MMcfd (8 × 10{sup}9 mVy) - about 10% of Italy's natural gas requirements. The Adriatic LNG terminal was constructed in Algeciras, Spain, and traveled 1700 mi. (2736 km) to its final destination. The terminal is positioned about 10 mi. (16 km) offshore in approximately 95 ft. (29 m) of water and will feed gas through a pipeline to the Italian gas distribution network. The Adriatic LNG terminal is owned by Exxon Mobil Italiana Gas, Qatar Terminal Ltd. and Edison SpA and will be part of the world's rapidly expanding natural gas supply network.
