Intestinal Helminths of the Wandering Grass Lizard, Cnemidophorus gramivagus (Squamata: Teiidae), from Brazil

Cnemidophorus gramivagus from Brazil was examined for helminths. Found were 1 species of Cestoda, Oochoristica freitasi, and 7 species of Nematoda, Amphi-biocapillaria fi-eitasilenti, Kentropyxia sauria, Oswaldocru-zia vitti, Parapharyngodon senisfaciecaudus, Physaloptera retusa, Spinicauda spinicauda, and Acuariid gen. sp. Seven new host records are recorded. Cnemidophorus gramivagus and other South American teiids are parasitized by generalist helminths that also infect other lizard species. In contrast, North American teiid lizards host helminth species mainly restricted to members of the Teiidae.
