A Manual on Corrosion Testing of Dam and Weir Gates

Our manual (still in draft stage) is the first work of this kind to summarize the procedures for evaluating the corrosion performance of dam and weir gate facilities, and we believe that it provides a basis for further detailed study of the subject.Field exposure tests taking into account the service conditions of the components are underway for some terms, but as yet have not been concluded. We are also hoping to receive comments from interested specialists.We intend to prepare a practical corrosion-evaluation manual of immediate applicability in the planning and designing of new dam and weir gates as well as for inspecting existing facilities in service use.As mentioned earlier in the text, the draft manual is available for public review as document no. 3620 of the Civil Engineering Research Institute. We hope that the manual will be widely used for corrosion evaluations of dams and weir gates, and that a definitive version will be completed in due course.
