We performed experiments to confirm the applicability of acoustic microscopy for evaluating intergranular corrosion of austenitic stainless steel. Surface wave velocity was slightly increased by cold-working, but was not affected by surface roughness, solution heat treatment, or sensitizing treatment. On specimens corroded in Strauss solution, surface wave velocity decreased with sensitizing time at various temperatures. The decrease in surface wave velocity due to intergranular corrosion coincided with corrosion depth. We concluded that the degree of intergranular
