摘要

As reviewed in the preceding text, the newly developed TULC beverage can has good retention capability and a smaller environmental load than the traditional DI can. In 1999, 6,500 million TULC cans were manufactured, accounting for 17 percent of total can production. There are currently five laminating lines in Japan: two at Toyo Steel Sheet, two at Nippon Steel, and one at NKK. Toyo Can Corp. has eighteen TULC can production lines. TULC cans are certain to comprise an ever larger share of total can production. The new laminating technology will very likely prove to have further applications in the production of components in other industrial sectors, such as automobiles, domestic electric appliances, and information.
