Surgeon Vice-Admiral Jenkins was the first Defence Post Graduate Medical Dean, and subsequently Surgeon General of Her Majesty's Armed Forces between 2002 and 2006. The Association of Trauma and Military Surgery (ATMS) Travelling Fellowship, named after him, aims to help specialty surgical trainees visit a centre of excellence in furtherance of their own professional development. The fellowship is awarded on an annual basis at the ATMS conference and was utilised this year to visit LA County Hospital and its associated Naval Trauma Training Centre.
