Multiple basal ganglia lesions in an immunocompetent patient.

A 42-year-old male presented to the emergency department with a 2-week history of frontal headache, confusion, and drowsiness. On examination there was reduced muscle power in the left arm, wrist and hand. No sensory deficits were detected. Cranial nerve examination revealed tongue deviation to the right. No men-ingeal signs were elicited. Laboratory tests were unremarkable. The CT brain revealed a small focus of calcification in the right basal ganglia (Fig. 1).
