Dear Professor Kaye,Ever since Svennilson et al.'s seminal paper on pallidotomy and Laitinen et al.'s resurrection of this technique, the target in the pallidum for addressing the symptoms of Parkinson's disease has been "posteroventral" (posterior and inferior) within the pallidum: "2 to 3 mm in front of the midcommissural point and 18 to 21 mm lateral to the midline... 6 mm below the IC (intercommissural) line".
