Review of the red fox, wolf, raccoon dog and badger situation in central and north-western regions of European Russia at the beginning of the twenty-first century

The article presents the latest (2013 and 2014) data on the state of populations of four burrowing carnivore species (the red fox, wolf, raccoon dog and badger) in 14 oblasts of European Russia. Pskov oblast was explored in more detail, i.e. at the district level. The distribution over the territory, population numbers, population density, population dynamics and dynamics of the legal harvest for the period 1991-2014 were analysed. Data on population numbers for Russia as a whole are adduced as well.The article is illustrated with maps and charts.
