Polysiloxane- and urethane-modified water-reducible alkyd resins

The object of the invention is to provide a coating binder based on alkyd resins leading to improved water resistance of the coating film without sacrificing the dispersibility and maximum mass fraction of solids of the dispersion. It has been found that certain alkyl phenyl siloxane polymers or oligomers bearing silanol or alkoxysilyl groups can be added to the alkyd esterification reaction leading to changes to hydrophilicity of the dispersed resin, and susceptibility towards water or humidity of the dried coating film.
