Lake Tinaroo Barra

Lake Tinaroo is located on the Atherton Tablelands, about a 70-90km drive southwest from Cairns, depending which road you take. The lake has about 220km of shoreline and covers 3,300 hectares. Shallow foreshores and deep channels make up its structure. Sunken forests, that vanish when the lake is full and magically reappear when water levels drop, make for dangerous fishing grounds. At the same time massive weedbeds, creek and gully entrances provide a rich fish habitat.
