Alate wet season storm had reduced our speed to 30 kilometres an hour just as we had turned onto the Arnhem Highway enroute to our launch site at the legendary Shady Camp. The rain was a very promising sign as it meant the barramundi would still be actively feeding as the tail end of the runoff of the Big Wet. After a brief stop off at the Bark Hut to pick up the boat we arrived at Shady Camp just after sunrise. Even at this hour the dirt ramp at Shady camp was already buzzing; and not just with those annoying little NT mozzies either.
