摘要

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the hip is beneficial for rehabilitation of patients after trauma. The hip is a stable joint that is supported by many muscles that function in combination to achieve complex motions. This article reviews the anatomy and function of the muscles around the hip joint and illustrates the characteristic MR findings of such injuries as contusion, strain, tear, hematoma, and tendon avulsion. Radiological description of muscle injuries is often made to assist in surgical procedures focusing on the location and severity of injury. However, many muscle injuries in the hip region can be managed conservatively. When accurate information regarding the specific muscle is provided by MRI, appropriate management of these injuries can facilitate recovery.
