Sartory Instruments Ltd — A Very British Enterprise

My early teenage years were spent in a house full of microscopes: many were beautiful Victorian "Brass & Glass" instruments, but there was also a number of modern 20th century stands and accessories, some of which bore our family name of Sartory. At the time I'm afraid I rather took them for granted. I knew my father ran a business making scientific instruments, as well as Superma Ltd (the family company making hairdressing machinery and equipment), but I was then more interested in collecting sea-shells and catching butterflies than in things microscopical!
