摘要

The present study deals with an assessment of allelopathic effect (growth regulatory effects) of two hepaticae (Lunularia cruciata and Pellia endiviifolia) on seed germination of a leguminous (Indigofera heterantha) and a non-leguminous plant (Impatiens scabrida). Results on germination behaviour indicated that low concentration of extracts (lipophilic and aqueous) were more effective in terms of inhibition. Initiation of germination was also delayed more in lower concentrations than higher concentration indicating the dilution effect of the extracts on seed germination. In none of the experiments, germination was completed within the experimental time (30 days). In comparison to the control, seedling growth was in general suppressed in the extractsof all the bryophytes. With the increasing time, the effect of bryophyte extract on the seedling growth was diluted. The root/shoot ratio was more than one in all the treatments.
