"I learned about the need to track everything we do. We were in a Family Farms Group test group for the (peer group) software for a year. The other growers and I would be on a conference call every week to work through the bugs. We developed the process together, then had the service implement it. "We now track everything with our crops. We're 100% corn-on-corn, so we track from field to final destination. We have five points of control: the combine monitor, the scale monitor and grain cart, which issynced by iPad. There's also the location ticket, which we cross-check, the bin location, and when it comes out of the facility and is sold. "This source tracking is mainly for our own records, but we also found 4,000 bushels that we hadn't been paid for. That's huge."
