Is PM a T2 (late translational) research journal?

The mission of Preventive Medicine is to publish exploratory work for and results from intervention studies aimed at modifying health behaviors or the environment for the purpose of disease prevention. Recently, the scientific activity of adapting findings from one domain of research to another has been broadly termed translational (T) research, with two main branches: Tl (early) and T2 (late). Tl research goes from the laboratory bench to the clinical bedside. It consists of using knowledge accrued from the basic sciences to produce new drugs, devices, and treatment options for patients. While T2 research aims at translating any knowledge into practice. In particular, it involves implementing new knowledge in ambulatory care or in communities (Woolf, 2008). In other words, T2 comprises practice-based research and population-based interventions, precisely the type of work that PM prioritizes.
