LOTS of people can drive a truck; only a chosen few drive the cattle truck, and they're getting harder and harder to find. That well-qualified, special few who have what's necessary as big-rig drivers to expertly handle a long-distance cattle haul arefar less abundant than they once were, say order buyer Dell King of King Livestock Co., Hopkinsville, Ky, and Glen Feichtner, past president of the Ohio Cattlemen's Association. "There are a lot of people out there driving who aren't qualified," says King. "I'm referring to handling cattle. A freight hauler is one thing; a cattle hauler is unique. They've got to be in good health to stand the stress as well as understand the cattle."
