Contemporary trends in the development of radical poly-merization in the light of the world polymer congress iupac macro 2000 contributions

The most important problems examined in the section Radical Polymerization" of IUPAC MACRO 2000 have been discussee. 80% of 87 contributions concerned chemical control of radical polymerization course. After general characterization of radical polymerizatio as a living process three groups of such control methods have been presented (on the basis of the newest literature data as well as congress contributions) as follows: (a) stable free radical polymerization-SFRP, (b) atom transfer radical polymerization-ATRP, (c) reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer olymerization-RAFT.
