The Cloud Chamber Scrubber, ("CCS") is manufactured by Tri-Mer Corp. (Owosso, MI) for a broad range of applications that generate particulate-laden exhaust, including coarse, fine and ultra-fine. CCS technology works by passing the gas stream through a chamber that contains a precisely engineered scrubbing cloud of high-density charged water droplets. Inside the CCS, billions of charged droplets interact with the process stream. When a particle and droplet pass within 20 microns of each other, electrical forces cause the particle to be pulled into the droplet, making each droplet a particle collector. Particles then "rain" into a sump, settle, and are removed in a low volume slurry. Relatively clean water from the top is recirculated to the charging grid where it is recharged. The technology does not use fibrous filters, collector plates, bags, cartridges or any of the other high-maintenance consumables traditionally associated with particulate collection.
