Introducing DNA sensors that detect and analyze heavy metal ions to help pollution control professionals quickly assess contamination levels in the field. Providing safe drinking water to citizens will always be a serious concern of government agencies, public water suppliers and the pollution control industry. The detection and testing of water contaminants is of great importance, but the current methods are costly and time consuming. There is an urgent need to make the on-site testing of public water supplies easier, more reliable and cost effective to detect and assess contamination in a timely manner. The delay between water sampling, test results and remediation is often inefficient and ineffective when needed on a large scale. What is needed is a simple to use, portable and reliable method for non-experts to sample, identify and assess a contamination problem and bring it to light. The solution to this problem is here in the form of a hand held solution from ANDalyze.
