Reliance Laboratories, Inc. a full service independent environmental laboratory in West Virginia, has more than 30 years of experience providing local customers with efficient, accurate analytical testing. But in many industries that Reliance serves, accuracy is not enough. With increased pressures from federal and state regulators and globalization, many of Reliance's customers have focused on cost-cutting and savings, forcing laboratories to find new ways to work more efficiently and increase throughput in order to meet demand. Reliance's technology change from atomic absorption (AA) to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) helped the lab increase throughput for drinking water samples, Working with their analytical instrumentation partner, Reliance was able to devise a way to utilize the ICP-MS for wastewater samples as well, while ensuring regulatory compliance.
