Professor Zengchen Ma(1940-), Senior OncologySurgeon and former Chief of Hepatic Surgery atZhongshan Hospital (Fudan University), graduatedfrom Faculty of Medicine,Beijing MedicalUniversity in 1965.He received the Master Degreein Hepatic Surgery from Shanghai First MedicalUniversity in 1981.He was also Visiting Scholarin Hepatic Surgery at Memorial Sloan-KetteringCancer Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center,New York City from 1990-1991.
Prof.Ma has engaged in clinical practice andresearch at the Liver Cancer Institute,ZhongshanHospital(Fudan University,former ShanghaiMedical University)for 40 years.Led by Prof.Zhaoyou Tang,MCAE,he is the principal researcherof several major scientific projects.His maincontributions included,first national human livercancer transplantation nude mice model (1982),first report of global longest survival for livercancer(1993),predictive value of liver cirrhosis inAFP negative primary liver cancer (PLC,1998),missed diagnosis of PLC with low level AFP (20200ug/L)(2002)and initial statements on the three-stage radical resection standards for PLC (2004).His thesis on radical resection standards for PLChad been awarded the annual prestigious paper ofChinese.Journal of Oncology and the 4h OutstandingAcademic Works of the Chinese Association forScience and Technology Journals (2005).
