Taiwan is paving the way for the creation of a system that would aim to prevent generic drugs from reaching the market while the original drug is still under patent, according to the Taiwan Food & Drug Administration (TFDA)."We respect pharmaceutical intellectual property rights. Our system should be able to both ensure patent holders and help develop Taiwan's generic pharmaceutical industry," TFDA official Hsueh-yung Tai told Bloomberg BNA in a phone interview on Aug. 14.
