Recent Status of biodegradable Plastics in Japan

Reflecting that the biodegradable plastics (BPs) are one of the materials available for the de- sign for the sustainable environment, the BPs are called as "GreenPla" in Japan. Although the past market for the BPs was not so large, now it begins to grow, particularly since 1998 [:60 tons for 1992, 1,600-2,000 tons for 1998, 2,500-3,000 tons for 1999 and 3,500-4,000 tons for 2000].
