摘要

A new method is developed to predict the fault location by acoustic abnormality in the index bed. First, a trend analysis is taken to acoustic log data in the index bed. Second, its deviation contour maps are output and much more information can be taken from them. There are two cases to discuss. The first case, is that there is no fault in the area. In this case, there is no abnormality in the deviation contour map and all error are random. The second case is that there are faults in the area. In this case, there is local abnormality on the deviation contour map. There is a conclusion that the zero line on the map is the location of fault. This method has yielded good result and it is helpful for structure analysis in oil field.
