This month, I'll be rounding off our look at stalling by covering a point raised by our Multiplex Dogfighter reviewer - the tip stall and why understanding it matters to pilots. So what is it? Actually, the tip stall is exactly what it sounds like - the outer part of the wing reaches the critical angle (CA) and stalls before the rest of the wing. For a variety of reasons, one wingtip will often reach the CA before the other and this can lead to an uncommanded (and often abrupt) roll resulting in loss of control with significant height loss.
