The 'Bomb Gone' feature in the August issue by Bill Bowne was bound to catch my eye as I've always enjoyed dropping things from models and have written features on this subject in the past. There's a lot to be said for a simple system like Bill's that you can leave in situ and enjoy when you feel the need. I have had a lot of fun with my Flash profile foamy equipped with the EHL 'Bombs Away' unit. Due to the fact that I live close to one of our flying fields, I tend to fly frequently but for shorter periods. I am often alone and having a 'drop' option on a model can be very entertaining. There is also a skill element to getting your 'store' to land close to you and not in a field (or more!) away; wind direction and strength is a vital component of the positioning calculations. When other flyers are around someone is always very happy to become the loadmaster and call 'now' at the appropriate time. You also have someone to blame if things go wrong! A snag with dropping multiple parachutists is that if one gets hung up he may well finally fall out when the model is downwind and end up drifting off!
