摘要

The deepwater Scotian Slope is part of a passive continental margin created during Triassic-Jurassic rifting involved in the break-up of northern Pangea, in particular the separation of North America and Africa. In total, the margin off Nova Scotia can be described as a pull-apart province, whose early rift separation was succeeded by thermal subsidence and the development of a prograding shelf comprised of carbonate bank and major river deltaic deposits, with mobile salt below.
