Photoluminescence of pyrite films prepared by sulphurising iron films

Pyrite films have been prepared by sulphurising iron films. The microstructure and photoluminescencen(PL) behaviour were investigated. The results indicated that pyrite films with highncrystallisation and compact surface could be obtained by sulphurising iron films. The suitablensulphuration temperatures were in the range of 573–873 K. The pyrite grain size increased andnabnormal grain growth occurred with increasing sulphuration temperature. The pyrite filmsnshowed an obvious PL property. For the pyrite films sulphurised at 573, 673, 773 and 873 K, thenpeaks of PL spectra were located at 0?952, 0?990, 1?027 and 1?024 eV. The PL intensityndramatically increased and peak position shifted to higher energy with increasing sulphurationntemperature. Possible mechanism for PL properties of pyrite films at environment temperaturenwas discussed.
