Securing a solid basis for the public transport sector in Jordan

Recent years have seen a worldwide movement to restructure transport and other public sector organisations to facilitate commercialisation and privatisation. A fundamental step in this process is the separation of policy and regulatory functions from responsibility for supplying public transport services. Experience and general organisational and management principles suggest that accountability for delivering effective transport services and meeting financial objectives are best achieved by a clear organisational separation between service supply and wider government policy and regulatory interests.
