By applying the momentum equation, Ohtsu and Yasuda (1990) developed an equation to calculate the sequent depth ratio of the B-jump [Ohtsu and Yasuda 1990, Eq. (29)], which takes into account the jump length and in which two corrective coefficients, k' and r, appear. The developed final equation [Eq. (36)] uses Eq. (29) and three empirical equations for estimating k'', r, and the jump length, respectively. Thus, Ohtsu and Yasuda's (1990) approach is also not completely theoretically based and confirms the statement of the writers that the lack of a completely theoretical approach for solving the B-jump justifies the empirical origin of the available sequent depth ratio solutions.
