Cultural Impact in the German Context: Studies in Transmission, Reception and Influence

In 2002 Arts Council England published a report called Measuring the Economic and Social Impact of the Arts, and in 2008 followed a report commissioned by the British Academy. In this report the use of 'impact' or 'impacts' as quantifiable and reliable indicators measuring the economic returns of (government) funding to higher educational institutions in the UK was cemented. The decision to introduce 'impact' as a criterion for funding research has created and continues to create much discussion
