Massachusetts Draft 2006 QAP Would Give Priority for Credits to Production, Preservation Projects

The Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (MDHCD) has proposed giving small and medium-size production and preservation projects priority for low-income housing tax credits under the state's draft 2006 qualified allocation plan (QAP). Also, the plan provides for state tax credits in lieu of federal tax credits, increasing recommended cost limits for some new construction developments, and charging late fees. MDHCD estimates that it will have $8.852 million credits to allocate in two 2006 funding rounds after accounting for $3.339 million in binding commitments from 2005. The application deadlines are February 16 and September 8.
