摘要

Approximately 600-550 Ma ago, the Iapetus Ocean opened and Amazonia and Baltica (East European Cra-ton) were separated from Laurentia (North America, Greenland, and Siberia). This event corresponds to numerous manifestations of riftogenic magmatism (Fig. 1). A large igneous province related to the East Laurentian superplume formed along the eastern margin of Laurentia 590-550 Ma ago. The Volhynia flood basalt province formed at the western margin of Baltica about 550 Ma ago. At present, problems associated with mantle sources and the dynamics of plume-lithosphere and mantle-crustal interaction remain poorly studied for this province. Our data may partially fill this gap.
