Submarine Slump Folds and Gravitational Normal Faults in Quaternary Sediments on the Northern Slope of the Derbent Basin (Caspian Sea)

The Recent and Quaternary natural processes in the Caspian Sea have attracted the attention of many researchers due to the unique natural characteristics of the region (intense sea level fluctuations included) and active development of its water areas fostered by its high oil and gas industry (Figs. 1 a, 1b). The active prospecting and development of submarine resources of the Caspian Sea carried out at present require heightened attention to potential geological hazards, including the gravitational instability of Quaternary sediments.
