According to existing concepts, the "general regression divided almost everywhere the Oligocene and Neogene sediments..." [1 ]. However, in the south of Russia and adjacent regions, the boundary of the Paleogene-Neogene is overlapped by clay sediments of the Maykopian series.rnDuring the period of 1991-2004, more than 60 rock samples with microfauna of the Maykopian series, identified by T.A. Malakhova, N.P Shmerlina, A.R. Soro-kina, and T.N. Pinchuk, were raised from the Black Sea benthal zone.
