2019 news from the Ram Truck brand of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles centers on the 1500 Series, specifically the work-oriented Tradesman 4-door Quad-and Crewcab pickups. They are the first to use a new eTorque "mild hybrid" system with a motor-generator and lithium-ion battery pack to capture braking energy and convert it to launching power. A 3.6-liter Pentastar gasoline V-6 with eTorque is standard and the optional 5.7-liter Hemi gasoline V-8, with or without eTorque, with FCA automatics, are the available engines. Two-door regular cab Tradesman pickups for now lack the room for battery storage, so will continue in the 2018 configuration. Ram 1500s also have better aerodynamics and an active air dam on some models, for an over-10 percent gain in fuel economy. Ram 2500 and 3500 HD pickups continue with Hemi V-8 gasoline and the Cummins Turbodiesel I-6. A Ram Telematics feature is also new for 2019.
