A lot is being said and estimated about the positive impact of the end of the Quota Regime. India stands to benefit from the liberalized economy. Indian Textiles have reached the $ 37 billion mark and is expected to go up to $ 50 billion by 2007 and $85 billion by 2010. The industry has seen an investment of Rs 50,000 crores in the last 5 years and another Rs 1,40,000 crores of investment would be required to meet the $85 billion target of 2010. All this implies big opportunities for the suppliers of dyes and chemicals to the textile industry. But the challenges are also as big as the opportunities. Therefore, it is vital now that we introspect our strategies on marketing to see if they are in line with these challenges.
